Photoshop Color Cast
I've recently noticed an issue in Photoshop with my grayscale images appearing with a color cast. The actual pixel have equal RGB values, so this is only a display issue and only occurs within Photoshop. My monitor is calibrated, and I have no color cast in Lightroom. I found I can remedy the issue by enabling the "desaturate monitor colors" option in the Color Settings menu, but I don't think this is a good fix. For reference, my other Color Settings are to use ProPhotoRGB and 16-bits, and this matches the external editing settings in Lightroom.
I have attached an image that shows the issue. I took a screenshot, saved it as a JPG, then maxed out the Vibrance and Saturation in Lightroom to emphasize the issue and make it clearly visible. Again, the same TIF file viewed in Lightroom has not visible color cast, so this is only a display issue with Photoshop, not a problem with either the file or my monitor calibration. Any suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks,
Jeff
Jeff,
I have the same issue for many years and I know it's just an issue within PS. I do the same as you and desaturate the monitor option in the Color menu. I don't always have it and I have no other suggestion. Maybe someone else has a better suggestion?
